Riots have erupted in Johannesburg South Africa after former South African President Jacob Zuma surrendered to face a 15-month jail term sentence against him for his contempt of court case.
The case resulted in Zuma’s stubbornness to face the anti-corruption commission over allegations of bribery and fraud which he had previously denied.
Some of the victims were killed due to the stampede while others were arrested in Zuma’s home province of KwaZulu-Natal.
According to the report, the protesters and looters have been fighting with the police for almost a week where the authorities have used rubber bullets.
Police and soldiers are still working to restore peace in parts of Johannesburg South Africa, which left 72 people dead.
