Lt. Gen. Faustino, appointed next AFP Chief of Staff

President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino as the next Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Faustino will replace AFP Chief of Staff Cirilito Sobejana who will retire on July 31, 2021.
The President signed Faustino’s appointment paper on Thursday, July 29, 2021.
It is known that Faustino will only be in office for three months because he will retire in November.
Faustino is the commander of the Joint Task Force for peace and security in Mindanao.
Prior to the appointment, Faustino also served as the Philippine Army.
