Comelec: Voter’s registration is affected by the two-week existence of the ECQ

Written by on July 31, 2021

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the ongoing voter’s registration will be affected by the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) starting Aug. 6.

The ECQ will be in effect until August 21 in some provinces in the country, including Metro Manila.

“The return of NCR to a state of ECQ will undoubtedly have an impact on voter registration numbers,” Dir said. James Jimenez, Comelec spokesman.

It only mentioned that so far they have exceeded their set target of the number of registrants despite the pandemic.

Jimenez said more than four million new voters have already registered and are among those who can vote in the 2022 national and local elections.

He said the steps taken by the government now that the pandemic continues is also for the safety of the people.

This will ensure that once the government lifts the strictest quarantine restriction they will continue to register new voters and this is until September 30.
