Medical frontliners were paid tribute by President Duterte on National Heroes Day

President Rodrigo Duterte joined in the country’s celebration of Heroes’ Day.
The President acknowledged the heroism of the medical frontliners and all essential workers who are now primarily responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the President, health and essential workers who sacrifice their lives in exchange for serving their fellow Filipinos can be considered modern day heroes.
“As we overcome the Covid-19 pandemic, let us honor our modern day heroes, our medical frontliners and all essential workers who sacrifice their lives, comfort and security to serve our fellow Filipinos,” the President said.
At the same time, the President also acknowledged the courage shown by the people’s past and present heroes.
According to the President, the necessary respect should be given to the sacrifices of the heroes who fought for the country’s democracy.
“With pride and joy, we honor the noble sacrifices of our ancestors who fought to celebrate our country and establish the thriving democracy that we are today,” the President said.
He said their heroism should serve as a lesson.
“May we all learn from the valiant example of past and present heroes and build on them to achieve a stronger future for all,” the President said.
