Written by on September 4, 2021

The Department of Education (DepEd) is pushing for covid19 vaccination among teachers to become an institutional approach.

According to DepEd USec. Nepomuceno Malalluan said they are in contact with the National Vaccine Operations Center (NVOC) regarding the matter.

Malaluan stressed that the department still recognizes the geographic prioritization of the vaccination program based on the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in an area.

About 200,000 or more than 20% of the teachers have been vaccinated against covid19, most of whom are from NCR as of July 31, according to the official.

The international organizations WHO and UNICEF recently announced that teachers and school personnel should be included in the target population group to be vaccinated in the countries’ national vaccination plan.
