The proposal to form the Philippine Boxing and Combat Sports Commission has passed the third and final reading of the Senate.
Members of the upper house of Congress voted unanimously.
It will be recalled that the proposal went through lengthy debates, also due to the lack of funding for the new agency.
The eight division world boxing champion and Sen. Manny Pacquiao is its principal author.
The purpose of the drafted commission is to ensure the condition of athletes in combat sports, that they have reliable assistance, in case they suffer a negative impact due to the games they participate in.
