Tugade: No toll fee increase during a pandemic

No toll fee increase will be implemented on expressways in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This was assured by Transportation Secretary Art Tugade to the motorists after the signing of the Supplemental Toll Operations Agreement (STOA) for the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) between the Department of Transportation and San Miguel Corporation.
According to Tugade, he understands the urge of tollway operators to increase the toll fee to continue the operation but it is necessary to protect the public interest.
Tugade added that there is a need to balance the needs of investors and the people.
It was learned that the 19.4-kilometer, six-lane elevated expressway PAREX will connect Radial Road-10 to Manila, EDSA, and C5.
