Calvin Abueva was the hero in Magnolia’s win after he put in his buzzer-beater with 2.6 seconds left to beat NorthPort, 90-89 in the ongoing 2021 PBA Philippine Cup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym.
Magnolia’s win took root when Rome Dela Rosa passed him an inbound pass, until Abueva straightened it out despite those who blocked him under goal.
Magnolia got the surprising win from their come-from-behind win despite a 17-point deficit.
This is Magnolia’s seventh win to get the second and final twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
NorthPort suffered its second straight loss for a 4-5 record.
Ian Sangalang led Magnolia with a total of 26 points, while Abueva supported with 15 points.
