PH Olympic bronze medalist Leopoldo Serantes passes away, 59

Philippine bronze medalist at the 1988 Summer Olympics Leopoldo Serantes has passed away at the age of 59.

This was confirmed by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

Serantes won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea as well as gold medals at the 1985 and 1987 Southeast Asian Games in the light flyweight division.

Bicol native Serantes was first reported to be suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) while confined and at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
