The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that President Duterte has approved the release of the World’s Teachers ’Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) worth P1,000 to public teachers for this year.
In a statement, the department said the incentive benefit is in line with the government’s commitment to support public school teachers due to their dedication to continuing to provide quality education.
“With the ongoing preparations for School Year 2021-2022, we are grateful to our 900,000-strong teachers who have displayed their unwavering passion to serve and educate the Filipino youth,” DepEd said in a statement.
It was learned that up to P910 million will be distributed in incentives.
DepEd added that it will only issue guidelines for the distribution of P1,000.
The additional incentive was initiated by Education Sec. Leonor Briones in recognition of public school teachers who continue to promote education in the country despite the threats posed by the pandemic.
