Charter change debate targeted to end by 2021 – Speaker Velasco

The House aims to coincide with the ratification of amendments to the 1987 Constitution in the 2022 presidential elections.
According to House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, they expect the cha-cha debate to end before the end of 2021.
It also ensures that the debate on the proposed Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) 2 will be transparent and fair.
He said it is important to take advantage of the opportunity for the “full recovery” of the country’s economy due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the country should not be left to its own devices when it comes to investment and opportunities especially as the global economy is slowly opening up.
On Wednesday, the House Committee on Constitutional Amendments will continue its discussion on amending the restrictive economic provisions of the Constitution.
