DOH to the public: ‘Don’t ignore COVID protocols on the release of children 5-yrs old and older

Written by on July 12, 2021

The Department of Health (DOH) is now reminding parents and the public not to be complacent even if the government allows children five years old and older to leave their homes.

According to treatment czar Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega, children should still follow existing standard public health protocols while outside their home.

Likewise the local gov’t units are in their hands or discretion to implement the new policy.

Usec Vega gave the example that there are areas where the quarantine position is higher due to the high number of COVID cases that are also dangerous to children.

It is said that some LGUS are not in favor of such a new policy.

Meanwhile, the Metro Manila Council will meet again to get the opinion of other experts on whether it is really safe for children to come out of their homes with the new variants of COVID-19.
