Malaysian paralympic athlete disqualified after winning gold medal

The gold medal went to Malaysian shot putter Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli after winning the shot put event in the F20 class at the Tokyo Paralympic games.
Ziyad was disqualified for allegedly arriving late.

According to International Paralympic Committee spokesman Craig Spence Zolkefli said two others who did not win were allowed to compete but they were under protest due to the delay in arriving at the event.

World Para Athletics, which manages the track and field at Para sports, also dismissed the appeal.

In a statement, the organization said that “there was no justifiable reason for the athletes’ failure to report on time.”
