The Department of Health (DOH) reiterated that there are no recorded local cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in the Philippines.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said it is based on the whole genome sequencing Philippine Genome Center (PGC).
He said the PGC will be the one to tell if Delta virus has entered the country through their intensified biosurveillance.
Duque stressed that border control in the country is now very strict, in addition to the existing strict quarantine protocols.
On Thursday Duque said experts were studying a possible temporary ban on travelers from Indonesia from entering the Philippines due to the threat of the Delta variant of the coronavirus
