Fil-Canadian Leylah Fernandez enters QF of the US Open; Kerber and Osaka were upset

Filipino-Canadian Leylah Fernandez has entered the quarterfinals of the US Open after beating 2016 champion Angelique Kerber of Germany.
It got the score 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) 6-2.
It even had a problem in the second set until it finally recovered.
The 18-year-old Fernandez first defeated world’s number 3 Naomi Osaka in the third round.
Fernandez also represented Canada at the Tokyo Olympics.
His father Jorge, a former Ecuadorian professional soccer player, is his coach.
While his mother Irene is a Filipino Canadian where Leylah is second of three sisters who are all girls.
It will next face Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in the next round.
