Philippines, ready to receive refugees from Afghanistan

The Philippines is ready to receive refugees from Afghanistan.
This was the Palace’s statement after Taliban forces besieged Afghanistan.
According to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, any asylum seekers are welcome in the country.
Roque cited the example that in the past the country received refugees or asylum seekers from Russia, or that during the second world war Jews he said continued here in the country.
According to Roque, all those who need protection and are persecuted in their hometown have a place in the Philippines.
Today many Afghan nationals want to leave their country out of fear for their lives and the awaiting way of life under the new Taliban government.
