President Duterte warns of stricter COVID-19 restrictions

Given the threat of the Delta variant of COVID-19, President Rodrigo Duterte warned of the possibility that the government will re-implement stricter policies to prevent such disease.
The President made the statement after the Department of Health confirmed that there are local cases of Delta variant in the country.
In Talk to the People last night, the President said the DOH report is seriously alarming and the government should be concerned.
As such, the President said stricter quarantine qualifications and ban mass gatherings could be enforced to prevent the spread of the Delta variant.
The President advised the Department of the Interior and Local Government to strictly enforce the current restrictions.
According to the latest DOH records, 35 Delta variant cases have been recorded in the Philippines of which 11 are local cases.
