A few days before the start of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, authorities arrested a 30-year-old Uzbek national for allegedly raping a Japanese woman at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

It was learned that the suspect, Davronbek Rakhmatullaev, was a student and the unidentified victim was both a part-time worker at the stadium.

The alleged assault happened after the two watched the rehearsal of the Olympic opening ceremony.

The suspect denied the allegation and said the victim did not leave.

The opening ceremony will be held next Friday and spectators have been banned from the main stadium to avoid the COVID 19 infestation.
