Amid criticism received by the government after saying that the Chinese vaccine Sinovac is the first vaccine to come in the country, the Department of Health (DOH) said they are safe.
At the Laging Handa press briefing, Health Usec said. Maria Rosario Vergerie that all vaccines against COVID-19 entering the Philippines will be ensured.
Apart from being safe, he said, the Food and Drugs Administration will also ensure that they are effective.
He said this is the reason, the official said, so there is no need to choose what vaccine to inject.
He stressed that the first vaccine should be accepted because the government’s goal is to alleviate the suffering caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health official explained the reason for the increase in the number of people who test positive for COVID-19.
He said that during the holiday period, the laboratory output that examined the specimen dropped by 30 percent and is only now returning to normal.
Regarding the influx of people in Quiapo, Manila on Saturday for the Feast of the Nazarene, Vergerie said it will be known in the next two or three weeks if it will increase the number of positives in COVID-19.
Earlier, health experts said that what happened in Quiapo, Manila could be a super spreader event.
